I charge an hourly rate for general genealogical research,
plus the out-of-pocket costs of photocopies, postage,
telephone tolls if required, cemetery photographs if
requested, and travel expense outside Polk County, if
required and approved. I require a minimum of two hours.
No retainer is required. Payment can be made by personal
check, money order or by credit card through PalPay from
the link posted below.
If you need an obituary look-up or other single research
need and have the exact (or near exact) date of death,
marriage or birth, a flat rate can be offered.
Death certificates from the State of Iowa Department of
Health can be obtained only by a direct descendant of the
deceased. I will be pleased to copy death records on file
at the county level, but cannot obtain Iowa State death
certificates.
Please send me an email and we can discuss your
special needs and situation. For many reasons, it is often
difficult to estimate the time required to research a
particular task, but it is entirely within my approval for you
to set a specific hourly time limit. We can always decide to
continue if the initial search proves productive.
